Medical expense deduction
if moved into an assisted living facility as no longer could do certain daily tasks for myself in the year 2017 and do not have any kind of long term insurance coverage, can we deduct any of the room and board charges for the assisted living facility (we are on private pay) or are we only able to deduct the home care services charged?

Medical expense deduction
You can include the cost of medical care and nursing care, cost of meals and lodging in the medical facility if the primary reason for the facility is medical care.
If the primary reason is personal, do not claim the cost of meals and lodging, only deduct the cost of medical and nursing care.
