The box where I am supposed to enter doctors expenses is grayed out and will not let me enter an amount.

Are you filing Married Filing Separately ? And did you indicate in the MY INFO section that you would not itemize ?

Can you enter any medical expenses in any of those screens in that section ?

Are you using the ONLINE or DOWNLOADED version ?

Thanks for your questions and possible response.  I got lucky and solved my problem.  I double clicked on the box by accident and it brought up old information from a previous year of doctors and costs that apparently were being used.  I deleted that information and was able to enter what I needed to input.  Who knew?

I think there is a problem with Turbo Tax here. If I import medical from Quicken to Turbo Tax, I will get that same problem. It put all my medical expenses into this one spot. I was able to correct it like you did and double click on the spot. If I do not import medical, then this problem does not occur.

the box where i want to enter medical expenses displays $0 but won't allow me to replace it with my entry. what needs to be turned on to allow me to enter my value?

Are you downloading data from Quicken or some other program? 

 

Have you tried double-clicking on the box?
