My medical deduction total is NOT the sum of the separate amounts I have typed in the program. I do not have ACA, just medical expenses. I've quadrupled checked my individual category input numbers and the medical deduction total comes out $994 too high. How do I fix it? Must I remove $994 worth of deductions on one of the categories so the amount on the tax return is accurate? Then it seems I'm not giving accurate info to Turbo Tax, so that doesn't seem like the proper solution. However, if I'm audited, I have receipts only for the amount I input, not the error total that Turbo Tax puts on my return.

Are you using TurboTax Desktop? If so, go to Forms mode (upper right) and look for Medical Wks under FORM 1040. If you have Online, no, you can't see this form. All you can do is tell me if (1) you have an HSA (or Archer MSA), and (2) if you entered a 1099-SA with box 1 at $994.
Yes, I am using TurboTax on my Desktop (the online version, not downloaded). I do not have an HSA that I have contributed to in 2025 or that I am use funds from for reimbursement in 2025. I do not have a form 1099-SA.
I have an idea - would the program have automatically added the non-eligible self-employment health insurance deduction to the total Medical expenses total without me doing anything to make that happen?
Yes, that is a medical expense. The system would add it to the medical deduction if it were not allowed to be deducted elsewhere.
Thanks
