Hello Sirs,
In June 2017, We leased a Volvo XC90 with 30k/miles allowance for the entire 39 months lease term. It was intended for standard commuting purposing only, but we ended up using the vehicle 99% for work only. At the end of the term the vehicle had 67k miles on the odometer. Just paid off the lease and returned the vehicle to Volvo. All miles are electronically logged into Volvo servers. We do not have a business and both work in hospitals. Can we use itemized/standard deduction having in mind that the vehicle has been used entirely for work purposes only?

Employees cannot deduct any employment related expenses any longer.
In this case, I think we made a mistake with our State refund then. We filed it as itemized and the State now sent us a letter to basically proof everything. What should we do, please?
Let me restate ... the deduction is no longer allowed on the federal return ... some state's will allow it. Follow the notice instructions and provide the information requested in a timely manner.
