Hi, I applied for ITIN but it was returned as my paper submitted returned was still not processed by IRS fedral taxation which is my first time. What shall I do while filing 2020 tax returns?
Options:
1) I should not take child tax credit benefits and just complete online efilling to process faster then resubmit the ITIN application so ITIN can be processed successfully. Later, I can amend my Tax returns of 2020 and claim the child tax
2) Claim for Child tax credit and submit the return with paper which longer process. In this can I submit ITIN application form in the same envelope?
Need some suggestions, thanks.

If you never receive your ITIN your the only option is to file paper return. You won't be able to e-file. You could be eligible for Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit and Other dependent tax credits, however you may not claim the child tax credit for a child with an ITIN. The child must have an SSN to be a qualifying child eligible for the child tax credit or the additional child tax credit.
Thanks @npierson7 🙂
In got return letter of ITIN application for dependents, with below reasons:
1) You did not include a completed and signed U.S. federal income tax returns with you application.
Comment: I have submitted but does it mean that it is not updates in IRS system
2) You were not listed on an attached U.S. federal income tax return, or
3) You were listed as a dependent on an attached U.S. federal income tax return but were not claimed for any allowable
Need suggestions on how to resubmit the form again, what's the possible cause of return.
it sounds like the tax return got separated from the application, which is unfortunate. The only thing can suggest is to resend by certified mail and return receipt or visit your nearest IRS office and have them certify that all your documents are complete and correct.
