Deceased filers and the earned income credit

It depends.  Here is an FAQ about who and what qualifies to claim Earned Income Credit:  https://ttlc.intuit.com/replies/3299933.  Even though he died in February, he is “alive” all year for Earned Income Credit.  If he can claim any qualifying dependents for EIC, they must have lived with him from Jan. 1 until his death to qualify.  But if he fulfills all of the conditions, then yes, he may claim EIC.
