Is there any way to claim home appraisal and home inspection fees, for property seller backed out on? It was 950$ which THEY said i could claim on taxes

Those would be considered closing costs. They are not considered tax deductible, but will increase your cost basis which may benefit you in the event of a sale.

Just a reminder you are able to deduct the following:

  • Mortgage interest paid
  • Points (Loan origination fees)
  • Real estate taxes (property tax)
  • Mortgage insurance
