Installment Sale ERROR

We bought in 2017 and sold in 2025 a main home that we lived in. Don't have installment sale but keeps asking me to enter information and receiving error on tax form for installment sale. Keep looping back and repeats same questions after entering sold home information. Please help or is this a Turbotax software error? Thank you in advance!

Installment Sale ERROR

Perhaps. It's possible you answered a question incorrectly, and after walking through the home sale it doesn't appear to be in that section. Under Less Common Income there is an option to select Installment Sales.  If that was selected in error see the steps below.

Try using the steps to delete a form and delete a Form 6252.

Use the link below for your version of TurboTax to delete a form.

  • If you're using TurboTax Online software and need to delete a form, click here.
  • If you're using TurboTax Desktop software and need to delete a form, click here.

Once deleted, then close your return and follow the steps to clear any debris pieces in the background.

It handles many issues that seem nonsensical on a regular basis with online activity. Watch to be sure you are selecting 'all time' as example.  Do not use selections like 'last hour' for those browsers that give  you options.

Once this is complete open your return and try again.

If you are using TurboTax Desktop, save your return, then at the top select Online, then Check for updates.
