If I travel across the state to work as a volunteer at a charity event, may I deduct my hotel and travel expenses? Where do I insert the expenses? Thanks!

If it is a qualified charitable organization, you can certainly deduct mileage. If it is far enough away (there's not a hard figure on this), I would say hotel is deductible as well. See below for more details.
