I live in Michigan can I write off my moped and boat registration? If so do I enter it under vehicle registration?

You can potentially deduct the registration fees for your moped and boat, but there are specific conditions. 

• As long as your vehicle registration or license fee for your motorcycle, motor home, off-road vehicle, or boat includes taxes based on the value of the item, you may be eligible for this deduction. See IRS article
• You’re required to itemize deductions instead of using the Standard Deduction to deduct your eligible registration fee.

To enter these deductions in TurboTax, follow the steps below, which are the same as car registration.

1. Open or continue your return.
2. Navigate to the car registration section:
   • TurboTax Online/Mobile: Go to Vehicle registration.
   • TurboTax Desktop: Search for car registration and select the Jump to link.
3. Answer Yes to Did you pay registration fees in 2024? and then enter them on the next screen.
