I have a private mortgage, and don't receive a 1098. Where do I enter the interest paid?
We have a secured private mortgage, so they don't send a 1098. They send the amortization table which shows the interest paid in 2018.
In Turbo Tax Deluxe, I only have these options to pick:
o We co-own this loan with someone and only pay a portion of it.
o The seller is financing this loan and we didn't receive a 1098.
o None of these apply.
The first options is out, the second one is close..but the loan isn't from the seller of the house.
If I pick 'none of these apply' Turbo Tax assumes I received a 1098 and I have to fill the info out as if I received the 1098. What do I do?

If you have a private mortgage and did not receive a form 1098, you can claim your mortgage interest and enter it in TurboTax just as if you had received a form 1098 from a bank. As name of lender, enter the name of your private mortgagor.
