I had car registration fees in 2015 but not in 2016 (it is every 2 years). Turbotax will not let me file with an amount of $0 for car registration fees in 2016.

You can just leave that item blank, no 0 or anything.

Leaving it blank or adding a 0 didn't work. However while on the Car Registration page and clicking to delete each section did. It will still show an error but at the end it does work.

Tried deleting 0.00 entry & leaving field blank.  Still produced error & would not pass smart check.

I had the same problem as ldswymer. Deleting them doesn't work and neither does leaving them blank or at 0.

deleting amount and car description stopped the error message
