I can’t find the VIN # to the car that I donated last year to a charity so how do I file it on my tax return?

The agent to whom you surrendered your donated vehicle should have given you a document outlining the donation, what it is, who it is from, etc. The VIN is included in that paper. Perhaps you could get a copy from the charitable organization your car went to?
