I am self employed had a new roof in 2023, can I deduct it in a different year?

I am self employed had a new roof in 2023, I was sick and I had no income that year and my wife is on social security, can I deduct it in a different year?

Sorry--no.    You have to enter it for the year in which you paid the expense.   You cannot wait and put it on some other year.
