There is no "adjustment".  The capital gain is fully taxable on your CA return. Having income in a non-resident state, without an income tax, does not get you out of paying tax to your resident state.

Had you sold property, in a stats with an income tax, CA would give you a credit for tax paid to the other state. You would not be double taxed, but you would pay state income tax; just to a different state.
