HSA Distribution

The Community forum acts like a posting board and when someone who may be able to help you sees your question, they respond.  There's no timing structure.

No, you do not report your HSA distributions as income on its own.  If you have contributions to your HSA through your employer, this is reported on your W-2 and entered into TurboTax there.  If you make the contributions yourself, you will have a statement from the account to refer to.  If you used your HSA during 2021 you will have a 1099-SA that reports the distributions.  You need to enter all your information to be sure you get the tax benefits you are due, and that you have not exceeded any limits.

To do this in TurboTax Online you can follow these steps:

  1. Within your tax return use the magnifying glass icon to search for HSA
  2. Follow the step-by-step interview to enter all your information
