How to claim uniforms and shoes

You can claim uniforms, shoes, and any other work related expenses on Form 2106(Job-Related Expenses).

You will need TurboTax Deluxe to file Form 2106, it should automatically prompt you when you go to enter your expenses. You can use the steps below as a guide.

Follow the instructions below to enter job-related expenses:

1. Select "Federal Taxes" at the top of the page

2. Select the "Deductions & Credits" sub-tab

3. Scroll down to "Employment Expenses" and select "Show More"

4. Select "Start" next to "Job Expenses for W-2 Income"

5. Select "Edit" next to your occupation(Or enter it when asked)

6. Continue forward through the screens past the home office deduction, vehicle deduction, asset deduction, and other questions until you arrive to a screen titled "Job-Related Expenses"

7. Enter the description and amount for each item you wish to claim
