How does Turbotax calculate the charitable contribution carryover?

When I entered my 2019 Information into Turbotax, it recommended and I filed my return using the standard deduction. When I start my 2020 return, there is a Charitable Contributions Carryover amount that was calculated from 2019 and put on my Schedule A. Is this correct, given that I didn't choose to use my itemized deductions on my 2019 return?
