Thanks for the links, but I was asking, if you were collecting unemployment (PUA) during the time you are claiming these credits, how does that affect your unemployment benefits. It just sounds like double dipping. Maybe since it is a credit and not payment, it doesn't.
Logically, you are correct.
However, how unemployment works is dependent on each State. As far as I can tell, most (or maybe all) States have not addressed that (or how the PPP give owner's compensation replacement). But again, that is an issue with your State Unemployment Agency, not with taxes.
Each state has a different process for initiating unemployment benefits. Since these credits (Credits for Sick Leave and Family Leave for Certain Self-Employed Individuals) have not been claimed by any taxpayer on Form 7202 yet, the states' unemployment offices did not take these tax credits into consideration when issuing PUA payments in 2020.
