The section for Home Energy Credits has a note "Available Soon", but the form for energy credit is readily available on the IRS site. Will TurboTax have this section soon or should I make plans to use other tax software?

Form 5695, Residential Energy Credits is estimated to be finalized and available in TurboTax on 01/21/2026

Mine still says unavailable to complete even the tool says that Form 5695 is available for efile. Why the discrepancy?

You may have received an automated email indicating that Form 5695 (Residential Energy Credits) was available. While the form has been finalized, the final software update is still being deployed, and some customers may not yet see the form available in their product.

The update is actively rolling out across all platforms, and full access will be available once deployment is complete. No action is needed from you at this time. Check again tomorrow and/or this weekend to complete filing 5695. If you continue to see this form blocked after this weekend (1/25/26), please tell us in the replies below.

I received the TT email regarding form 5695 which stated: 

"The tax forms we needed to finish up your taxes are ready.

- Form 5695, Residential Energy Credits

Open TurboTax on your computer, install the updates when prompted, and your forms will be automatically included. "

I installed the update, but TT portion for home energy credits still indicates still indicates "available soon"

I don't understand. I downloaded and installed the update.

TurboTax Online updates for new tax laws and other features, but they are done automatically in your web browser. You do not have to manually update like in TurboTax desktop software.  

If you are using TurboTax Desktop, you can manually check for updates for  your TurboTax program by clicking on "Online" in the black bar near the top of your screen and selecting "Check for Updates."
