Home Energy Credit

The home energy credit section of TurboTax is glitching. I indicated “no” to enabling property being installed (question 25 on form 5695) and yet it still wants me to indicate a dollar amount for the enabling property when the software performs the review. I can’t e-file with this amount incorrectly coming up as an error, even though all questions were answered correctly. So I then tried to enter $1 as a test, and now the $1 won’t clear out no matter what I do, and now it wants the QMID for the enabling property. We don’t have any upgrades to enabling property, so I need this to clear out, and I need it to allow me to submit with the original answers. For some reason, the response to enabling property question is not properly coded to the subsequent questions, and/or has a memory for prior responses that can’t be changed. I have tried both online and app versions to no avail. TurboTax doesn’t seem to have an email posted to let them know about errors in their app/software… so here I am. Anyone have any suggestions???

IF you have no energy credits....nor any energy credit carryovers from last year...then just delete the form 5695.

For the "Online" software, go to the left-side menu, and click on:

Tax Tools

then......Tools

then, from the pop-up menu.........Delete a Form

(If you used that form last year, there may have been something strange that carried into this year's form)

_______________

IF you do have something to enter on that form...go ahead and delete it, then restart the Home Energy Credits from the interview.   BUT, if you had a credit carryover from 2024, make sure you have that $$ amount written down, or printed out from your 2024 file, before you delete this year's form 5695.
