Can I claim a deduction for my time to run a home dialysis machine for my daughter 3 times per week? I usually hook and unhook her from her machine and monitor settings. She usually spends approximately 4 hours per session hooked up to machine. I am also a retired RN, if that matters, and have been trained by the dialysis center to operate their machine.  They do not pay me anything for this service.

Unfortunately, no.  You can't take a tax deduction for your time spent caring for dependents or volunteering.  You can claim the cost of the machine and any out of pocket expenses you have.   

What kinds of medical expenses are deductible?

If you pay someone to care for your dependent, you may qualify to take the Child and Dependent Care Credit.
