Hi there. Currently working as a teaching assistant in France. Have been getting monthly paychecks from the French government with taxes already withheld. How do I file?

Update: I've only been living and working in France since October 2016, so I can't pass the Physical Presence or Bona Fide Resident tests. What do I do?

Also, it keeps trying to get me to upgrade to Deluxe. Is there no way to report this income with the free version of Turbotax?

Please follow these steps to include the income you made while abroad:

• Open your tax return in Turbotax

• Go to Federal Taxes

• Select Wages & Income

• Click I'll choose what I work on

• Scroll down the page to the last section Less Common Income and select Show More

• Select Start to the right of Foreign Earned Income and Exclusion

• Go through this section and enter the income that you earned abroad.
