Full Time Student

My daughter attends the local community college here in Virginia.  She took 9 credits in the summer semester, and 6 credits in the fall semester, for a total of 15 credits between .  My understanding is that colleges consider 12 credits in a semester as a minimum to be considered full time.  But my daughter took 15 credits between May and December of 2020.  Can that still be considered full time?  After all, most students don't attend summer.  My daughter did as a way of spreading the work out over a longer period of time, but the bottom line is that she still earned the same as if she had not done summer and taken 15 credits in the fall.

Full Time Student

The IRS definition of full-time student is that the student must be enrolled as a full-time student - by the school's definition - for at least part of 5 calendar months of the tax year.  The months do not have to be consecutive.
