Form 5695, Residential Energy Credits - biomass burning appliances

According to the manufacturer (Jotul) of the wood burning insert I bought in 2016 I should qualify for a $300 tax credit but I can't find a field to enter this for biomass burning appliances. Anybody know where I'm supposed to file this in turbotax?

Yes.  To enter the information for the credit for your biomass stove in TurboTax, please follow these steps:

  1. Click on Federal Taxes > Deductions & Credits.
  2. In the Your Home section, click on the Start/Revisit box next to Home Energy Credits.
  3. On the Energy-Saving Home Improvements screen, click Yes and then Continue
  4. On the screen, Tell Us How Much You Paid for Energy-Saving Improvements, enter the amount you paid for the stove in the box for Energy-Efficient Building Property.  Then click Continue.
  5. TurboTax will then calculate any credit due.

For additional information see the IRS instructions for Form 5695.
