Error for special depreciation preventing filing

@MelindaS1 Turbotax is generating an error for my 2 rental properties with old GO Zone special depreciation that prevents me from filing.  During final review it highlights the % of special depreciation allowance (schedule E worksheet line g) that is elected to 100%/50%  and has a SDA, 50% box above the picture of the form checked.  We can uncheck the box/change election to N/A but it does not save and loops back to the error.  This error prevents from filing as well.  (Can continue through final review, but it still loops back to fix at the very end before you go to file.)

We have created a protected copy of the return and sent to agent and the token # is 1356375.

Error for special depreciation preventing filing

@jennscole01 I tried a few different things in this file and unfortunately there aren't any possible workarounds currently because the assets are still being depreciated. FWIW, I also tried re-creating an identical Asset Worksheet to see if that would function better than the rollover, but 1) the same error appeared right away and 2) there's prior state data that can't be recreated in the current return.

  • While the issue is actively being fixed by the development team, the current ETA is April 19th: you will have to extend for timely e-filing. This will extend the time you have to file your taxes until October 15th, 2026. Instructions:

On the left rail menu in TurboTax Online Select Tax Tools  (You may have to scroll down on the left rail menu.)

On the drop-down select Tools

On the Pop-Up menu titled “Tools Center,” select File an extension

Follow the instructions to start the extension process

In TurboTax Desktop, select Federal or Personal

Select Other Tax Situations

Scroll down to Other Tax Forms

Select Start next to File an extension

Note: you may have to file a state extension-

Do I need to file an extension for my personal state taxes?

Remember, an extension gives you more time to prepare your taxes, but it doesn't extend the time to pay your taxes.  If you have an indication that you will owe taxes, you should make the payment by the original due date of the tax return to avoid additional interest and penalties
