Light blocking shades do not qualify unless;

1. They can be claimed as "any insulation material or system, including air sealing material or system, which is specifically and primarily designed to reduce the heat loss or gain of a dwelling unit when installed in or on such dwelling unit"

2. the manufacturer joined the IRS "qualifying manufacturer's" program

3. The manufacturer has a QMID (qualified manufacturer ID number)

There is a list of QMIDs here, I can't guarantee it is complete or accurate.

If your shades qualify, you would enter them in the box for "insulation and air sealing systems".  You can only claim the cost of the shades, not the cost of installation.

Based on your answer - Does insulation material deduction require a manufacturer's QMID to be entered?

Looking at Form 5695 itself, no, the cost of 'insulation material or air sealing material system' does not require a QMID to be entered.
