Since I filed so early on January 8th. Will the change in the child credit adjust without me having to file an amendment?

The proposed change in the Child Tax Credit is for the tax year 2021 - it will not affect the 2020 tax return you already filed.
The error code given was 9021. It listed quite a few reasons. Aren't these the types of inconsistencies your app is supposed to catch?
TT stands by its calculations.
9021– Reference Code for all math error conditions.
This is a bit of a misnomer, since the IRS considers it to be a "math error" if you make a data entry mistake, or forget to claim some income; and thus the refund amount is incorrectly calculated.. The IRS will be sending you a letter explaining the change. They do not notify TT.
It does seem with a name like "math error" that it would be something TurboTax could catch, but since it also can include unreported income or data that simply doesn't match the IRS database, it cannot.
TurboTax and the IRS do not have two-way communication about the data in your return to allow TurboTax to verify it. The only communication that comes back to TurboTax from the IRS is acceptance or rejection of your return. That's it. Once your return is accepted everything else takes place at the IRS.
