How to evaluate the deduction of donated personal clothing and wearing apparel.

Donations of clothing are generally valued by using the "thrift shop" value. The value of the donation is what you would be able to sell the item for or the price you would find it for sale at a thrift shop.
Since the prices charged at thrift stores vary from one to the next, a good way to value your donated items (if you don't use ItsDeductible) is to find an item on ebay that is as close to the item you are donating (fabric, condition, style, etc.). Be sure to use the SOLD value, though, since not everything posted on ebay sells for the price asked. ItsDeductible uses ebay values and updates their prices periodically over the year as prices change.
