I was told that since I worked from home for 9 months that I could deduct a portion of my home, our office and some of the utilities. in what section in deduction category, would I enter that amount. Also Is there a cap on the amount?

If you are a W-2 employee then work related expenses are not a Federal deduction but a few states still allow them.
State Deduction:
Last I checked, Alabama , Arkansas , California , Hawaii , Minnesota , New York and Pennsylvania all provide deductions for unreimbursed employee business expenses if you qualify to take the itemized deduction instead of the standard deduction in that state (other qualifications may apply).
Federal Deduction:
No.
Per the IRS: "Employees are not eligible to claim the home office deduction."
"Prior to passage of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, employees could possibly include unreimbursed business expenses if they worked from home at the convenience of their employer. But the tax code overhaul paused that ability until the provisions sunset at the end of 2025.
Self-employed taxpayers and independent contractors still can claim the deduction."
