Church donations are included as part of Schedule A, Itemized Deductions.

When you have completed your return, if your itemized deductions are greater than your standard deduction, then there will be a Schedule A included with your return.  You will be able to see the form after you have paid to file your return if you are using TurboTax Online.

In the meantime, you can follow the steps in the TurboTax article below to preview your Form 1040 to find out if you are using the standard deduction or itemized deductions.

How do I preview my TurboTax Online return before filing?

Take a look at the entry on line 9 of your Form 1040.  If one of the following numbers is there based on your filing status, then you are using the standard deduction and your total itemized deductions (including your church donation) is less.  If you know that your church donation was more than the standard deduction, then you should revisit the charitable contributions section in your return and check your entries.

Standard Deductions for 2019

Single or Married filing separately: $12,200

Married filing jointly or Qualifying widow(er): $24,400

Head of household: $18,350
