Correcting Medical Expenses

I incorrectly entered my medical expenses.  The correct value puts me with a deduction, but turbotax (desktop) will not let me edit the value.  Soon as I click the edit pencil it takes me to a page saying "thanks we have all your medical expense info.  Right now, the Standard Deduction saves yo the most on taxes."  However if I could edit the medical expense information that would not be the case.  How do I fix this?

I suggest you switch to Itemized Deductions first, then return to Deductions & Credits and edit Medical expenses. 

Go to Step-by-Step entry

Select Deductions & Credits 

Scroll down and select Done with Deductions

On the screen that says Standard Deduction is best, select to switch to Itemized

Go back to the Medical expense section. 

If you are still having an issue, go to Forms, Find and delete "Medical Wks" and try again. This second option will require you to enter all the expense, not just the additional ones.
