CHARITABLE DEDUCTIONS ITEMIZED FOR 2021

Before, when I entered charitable deductions, the Federal Tax Due box would reflect the deduction. Now, it's not doing that: The amount that I owe remains the same.

What am I doing wrong, or how can I get it to work properly?

You may not have met the threshold for having your total itemized deductions be greater than the standard deduction for your filing status.  Otherwise, once that threshold has been met, entering additional charitable contributions should increase your deductions and decrease your taxable income.

The other possibility is that you have already reduced your taxable income to zero and your balance due is not a result of owing income tax, but another type of tax such as self-employment tax.

Thanks for your response. Sadly, I had to start my taxes all over again---that is, from scratch.

The second time was a charm. I was able to complete, and file my taxes today, 04/09/2022.
