yes to both. to take 179 you have to have a profit from the business and business use of the vehicle has to be over 50%.

Thanks if a sole proprietor doesn't have the income for the entire deduction but part can they carry over unused towards future income? Does the vehicle have to be over a certain weight? Truck or van?
