Can I use the standard deduction instead of itemized deductions. The itemtized were only $2,650.00

Only received unemployment insurance (19,464.00) with only $2,650.00 itemized deductions and it's showing that I owe $841.00 state tax.  With the standard deduction wouldn't the state tax be less?

If the standard deduction is more than your itemized deductions, then the program defaults to the standard deduction automatically.  The only exception is if you are Married Filing Separate and your spouse itemizes - then you have to as well.

Which state? Some still tax unemployment comp in full, and may not even have a Standard deduction.
