Can I remove a HSA dollar amount?

You can remove your HSA amount by returning to the HSA entry screens in TurboTax as follows:

  1. Click on the search icon in the upper right corner of your TurboTax screen
  2. Type "HSA" in the search box
  3. Click on the link "Jump to HSA"
  4. Answer the questions until you get to the screen "Let's enter your HSA Contribution"
  5. Make sure you did not accidently enter an amount on this screen that was already reported in Box 12 of your Form W-2. This will double your total contribution amount.
  6. Continue through your TurboTax screens and make sure all questions were correctly answered.

If you need to remove Form 8889 you can do that as follows:

In TurboTax Desktop:

  1. Switch to Forms mode by clicking on "Forms" at your upper right corner of your TurboTax screen
  2. In your left panel search for "Form 8889"
  3. Select the form by clicking on it
  4. In your right panel of your TurboTax screen select "Delete Form"

In TurboTax Online you will:

  1. Continue your return
  2. In your left panel click on "Tax Tools" and then "Tools"
  3. Scroll down to "Delete a form"
  4. Select the Form 8889 from your list of forms and
  5. Select" Delete

Your screens will  look something like this:
