Can I deduct the miles driven to take my aunt to her drs appointments? and if so how?

It depends on whether you can claim your aunt as a dependent. If she qualifies as your dependent, you can claim the mileage as a portion of your itemized medical expenses. If not, you cannot claim the mileage as a deduction.

To claim medical expenses and medical mileage, you can follow this path in TurboTax:

1. Click on the Federal Taxes category at the top of the screen, and the Deductions and Credits subcategory.
2. In the Your Tax Breaks list, find the section labeled Medical and click Show More.
3. Click start on Medical Expenses.
4. Continue through the medical expense screens until you come to the screen labeled "Tell us about anything spent on medical travel. 
5. Enter the mileage on the above mentioned screen.
