It depends on whether you can claim your aunt as a dependent. If she qualifies as your dependent, you can claim the mileage as a portion of your itemized medical expenses. If not, you cannot claim the mileage as a deduction.
To claim medical expenses and medical mileage, you can follow this path in TurboTax:
- Click on the Federal Taxes category at the top of the screen, and the Deductions and Credits subcategory.
- In the Your Tax Breaks list, find the section labeled Medical and click Show More.
- Click start on Medical Expenses.
- Continue through the medical expense screens until you come to the screen labeled "Tell us about anything spent on medical travel.
- Enter the mileage on the above mentioned screen.
