It depends on whether you can consider the motorhome a "home" according to the IRS.  The home does not need to be your main home. However, you may not include costs allocable to a swimming pool or hot tub. Form 5695 does not ask when you purchased the home nor does it mention disqualification of homes purchased late in the year.  Here's what the IRS has to say about who can take the credit: "You may be able to take the credit if you made energy saving improvements to your home located in the United States in 2017. A home is where you lived in 2017 and can include a house, houseboat, mobile home, cooperative apartment, condominium, and a manufactured home that conforms to Federal Manufactured Home Construction and Safety Standards.

You must reduce the basis of your home by the amount of any credit allowed.
