I am a sole proprietor, and I would like to cover the travel expenses of a foreign business associate who is coming to visit me for business purposes. Are these expenses deductible for my business if I cover his travel costs? I understand that if we were travelling together, then his expenses would be deductible. In this case, however, he is simply coming to visit me. Thanks.

If the foreign business associate ( subcontractor etc. ) is coming to the USA for business purposes ( training , product/service education etc. ) i.e. for the benefit of your business ONLY, then you should be able include this as a business expense on your schedule-C.
Thanks so much for your response!
