We bought a primary residence in Feb. 2016, but weren't able to sell our previous primary residence until Aug. 2016. Can I deduct interest and property taxes for both for that overlap time frame or just one?

Is a sale of a primary residence in Texas tax exempt if I lived in it for more than two years and had capital gains of less than $250,000.
