Army Reserve Deductions

My son attended Army reserve BOLC training from May to Sept in Arizona. He lives in NY. He was reimbursed for most of his expenses while training but not all. He shipped a car from NY to the base each way at his own expense. A car was needed to get around the base. Is that auto transport tax deductible? It was $1,250 each way. What other non reimbursed expenses are tax deductible?
