Aha!  Such a simple solution!  Thanks so much!  Now I can increase my American Opportunity Credit from the 774 I was getting to 2500 by doing the same thing on my tax form!!  I have been wrestling with this for hours.  I knew by just looking at all the numbers that I should be able to claim the credit but could not for the life of me figure out how to get there on TT.
