Would the installation of acrylic windows on a sun room qualify as an energy deduction?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
Exterior windows must meet or exceed the version 6.0 Energy Star program requirements.
Additionally, there is a lifetime maximum credit of $200 for windows and $500 for all "non-business energy property" (doors, windows, efficient furnaces and air conditioners) so if you took the credit before, it might be reduced or disallowed now.
As Champ Opus17 notes above, windows have to meet or exceed the version 6.0 Energy Star program requirements.
This may also be referred to as ENERGY STAR certified in the packaging or literature that came with the item.
Please see Equipment Tax Credits for Primary Residences | About ENERGY STAR for more information.
Also, note that you can’t include in the cost of the window any amounts paid for the onsite preparation, assembly, or original installation of the components. See Instructions for Form 5695 for more information.
