Hi. A couple of questions about what equipment qualifies for 2024 Energy tax credits.
1. Does a portable solar generator with a 2048wh battery qualify if you connect an expansion battery to increase the capacity to 3kwh ? I f my interpretation is correct, it is eligible as Solar Property , since it has a built in solar charger, inverter, regardless of the internal battery capacity, & can be connected to expansion batteries. This does not require solar panels to generate electricity, but can be charged several ways. I use this as Emergency Backup power for my primary residence, in conjunction with the external battery bank that raises the battery capacity way beyond the 3kwh minimum requirement.
2. Can I claim the energy tax credit for a bank of energy storage batteries that exceed 3kwh purchased in 2023 that were not in service until 2024 when I purchased the solar generator & solar panels ? Publication 5695 does not state that the " qualified battery storage technology " has to be an individual battery.
3. Is the 3kwh battery minimum a requirement of each battery in a bank, or is it a combined total of the bank ?
