Hi there, here is the situation, I need some help!
My child 22 yr old was at least part time college student in 2022, she is not on our tax return (my wife and I), not as dependent. She started working Sept 2022 so she dropped out from our market place health plan. She did not receive 1095a form as she was listed as dependent in the health plan and her name only showed up under Part II "Covered Individuals". She filed her tax return already and now forgot to include 1095a there, can she file an amended return to include 33% of the 1095form in her return? TurboTax tax shows she will get more credit back. Appreciate your help!

1. I just wanted to double check.: As mentioned in my original question, my 22 yr old child was listed as dependent in our health plan and she did not receive the 1095a form (only listed in Part II as covered individual), can she still claim some portion like 33% of 1095 on her amended return?
2. She filed CA state tax already, will she need to amend CA tax return too? TurboTax shows the Federal Tax amendment will not change CA state tax refund amount.
Really appreciate your help!
Yes, your child will be able to claim 33% allocation from the 1095-A if that is the agreed amount with the family members. Please see this TurboTax help article about Form 1095-A.
There is no need for her to amend the California return if there is nothing to change on the tax return.
Yes, she can amend her return to include the information from the 1095-A form. You and your child should agree on what percentage of those amounts you’ll claim on your return, and what percentage she’ll claim on hers, as long it all adds up to 100%.
For more information check: I'm on my parents' 1095-A form. What do I do on my return?
To amend her return, she should wait until her original tax return is processed and she received her refund.
Thank you so much!
