Hello,
I moved to RI in June 2019 for my job where the office is located in MA. My paystub withholds RI taxes and one temporary disability tax for MA. I had only received a W2 for the state I previously lived in and RI. Do I need to file a MA tax return? My company's HQ is in California and while I am assigned to the MA office, my company does not require me to be in the office.

Does not sound like you do. It sounds like you are part-year state of origin and part-year RI and you have an individual W-2 for each state.
The connection to MA is the home office and the MA disability tax. Your employer payroll department recognizes your assertion that you do not work in the MA home office because it only reports RI income tax.
The MA disability tax may be deductible as a state and local tax if you itemize your deductions on Schedule A.
