TX state tax rate

I live in TX and we are not required to file state taxes. I made a mistake when completing my return. On the section where it says enter the state tax rate I put 6.25% and it is actually 8.25%. I realized the mistake after I efiled. Will I need to amend even though I live in TX and we are not required to file state taxes?

No, you’re not required to amend.

If you had enough itemized deductions on your federal return to actually claim itemized deductions – that is, your itemized deductions were greater than your standard deduction, and you can tell this by looking at line 12 of Form 1040 – then, you would get a tax benefit by amending, but you don’t have to.
