There are two errors with California Form 5805 AI
1) Line 6 of Form 5805 Part III calculates the annualization of itemized deductions on line 4. If annualized Federal AGI exceeds a constant value, itemized deductions should be reduced by 6% of that excess. The worksheet for line 6 is available in CA "2024-5805-instructions.pdf". I believe TurboTax is using CA AGI in line 8 of that worksheet, rather than Federal AGI. My itemized deductions should be reduced and they are not.
2) Line 10 of Form 5805 Part III is the tax on the amount on Line 9. In my case, TurboTax is using the value from Part II, Line 2. This is 90% of the tax due. I have no adjustments and the value on Line 10 is repeated on Lines 12, 14a, and 14c (this is correct). The value on Line 14c is then multiplied by 90% and appears on Line 16. This effectively sets my require payment at 81% of the tax due, not 90% of the tax due (this is incorrect).
