Turbotax says I need to file an amended return. Is this correct?

Hi.  My elderly mother fell down a flight of stairs at her home in 2017.  This has resulted in me spending my life at hospitals, nursing homes, rehab centers, therapies, multiple doctors, etc, to help her with healing her injuries.   I have a few free moments this weekend to try to work on getting MY life back in order.  I am using TurboTax installed on my computer.  When I try to work on the state return (Ohio), it says that I need to file an AMENDED return.   Is this correct?

It depends.

Have you filed your Ohio return yet?

If not, then you do not need to file an amended return.  You may need to scroll through your Ohio interview screens.  The box which says "filing an amended return" may have been marked as yes inadvertently.
